Otter Trapping - Monster Otter in Amazing Set!
What you want an otter for? Been hunting my whole life but don't understand what you do with an otter? You eat them?
This is wild
What it’s all about. Awesome hunt!
Smoked em
No bait? And what do you do with them? Eat them? I'm a southerner (Louisiana) and all this is new to me. Thank you for the video.
we usually but a silver fishing lure in them or no bait but you can try a fresh fish if your state allows
That’s moneyyy dudeee
pretty dope intro
Thank you!
I'm fabricating a couple from sheet metal and rbg's. Do you think color plays any part in attraction? I'm trapping public land so I was thinking of painting earth tones but not sure if they will see it. I'm new to otters by the way.
I don’t think they care about any colors we’ve never had a issue with the blue/green tubes I know guys that have white as well
you know your waders have two straps that's not a handle Idk if someone told you different but believe it or not that does buckle just like the other side
Believe it or not the buckle is broke just a old pair of trapping waders man
@@TripleBeamOutdoors yeah I know that’s what I figured I was just messing with you lol
Nutty
It's been a while since we've had snow for a gun hunt in KS, always fun! Nice buck!
that's very cruel
Well this is illegal in ohio, so now what?
What’s illegal about it? We are in Missouri all the laws are different
You talk wayyy to much!!!!Damm
I have trapped otters in narrow channels and at beaver dams, I'll try this as well. Good idea! That's a good sized otter.. You take care, from North central Ontario. Can.
That sound track though
Awesome!
keep up the good work! Ready for the next one!
That's cool man. We as a family are trying to learn from "locals" on how to do this. Purely for personal fur use. Thanks for the info.
Thanks for info, im building some tomorrow. Id get you a 3lb hammer, be easier to drive
Why the f___ do you even harm these guys?!?!? I always say, the same should be done to those that do it innocent animals. Sounds fair to me!🤬🤬🤬
Keeping the population in check. Too many otters they’ll eat all the fish.
Its a renewable resource. There are management practice's in place, license requirements, season dates, ect ect, its not just a wild west free for all as you are probably imagining. Nature is cruel in and of itself. And no one is making you do it. I'm not sure why you are searching out this content or why you clicked on it if it offends you.
I was deep in the woods when i looked down and saw hundreds on me. I gathered up a bunch of dry leaves stood in the middle and lit the leave on fire. The flash fire gets em pretty easy. Using a lighter skim it over them with the flame will kill em too.
I carry one for that reason lol
♠️
Great idea Some guys move the trap springs to the middle of the slot so the trap doesn't throw itself down the body of the otter or out of the tube if a mink sets it off. Might save you a few bucks on building if you drill a 3/8" hole through the top of your stabilizer for anchoring the trap instead of using an eye bolt?
give up on that place
Holy 😳
That's wild man. That's a big ol nope for me.
Couldn’t agree more!
Those are ticks?
Yes all of them!
@TripleBeamOutdoors be careful brother definitely check the wobbly bits in the shower don't won't those getting there!
Love the videos yall! New to the channel
Thanks for subbing!
I made tube sets for mink ? About 30 years ago now I’m back in my home state and there’s now an otter season ? I’m to old now to trap but sure like y’all vidios
Thanks for the info. Didn't know that caught so many fish. I'll try it this fall
What part of Missouri?.. roughly. I'm near St Louis ish
Jefferson City area
That's cool subscribed
Why would you call coyotes to be hunted? If they're actively destroying or killing property, I totally understand and agree. But if they're minding their own business, why kill them? Predators are the most important animals for the environment, so this is just unnecessary. Edit: I now see the comment replies saying that his animals were getting attacked. I suppose it's understandable, though I still prefer taking non-lethal methods like better fencing or, old reliable, the donkey.
They kill all our wildlife so we kill them
Why do people complain about the Chinese Eating Cats and Dogs but not Rednecks killing otters lol?
What part of Missouri are you guys located?
Central MO
Nice otter
Well done
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Burning the powder
This is 🔥
It’s been a tough season
I can’t believe it’s almost over
Excellent trap you've constructed, well done! I watched your build video before this one and my question is, you have a bait hook for holding a fish and unless I missed it I didn't see you put one on your hook for this particular set location. When do you use your bait hook?
Thank you we appreciate the support! To answer your question we usually use the bait hook in bigger pools of water or more of a “hunting grounds for the otter” in the videos case we set it more of a blind set in the smaller pock of water so we didn’t bait it just in case the water gets low a coon or something out of season won’t get in it. A lot of times we will hang a silver fishing lure with no hooks to mimic a fish easier than changing dead bait out! Let us know if you have any more questions thank you!
Heck ya all day
How deep do you set it in the water
We’ve set most like blind sets where they are just below the water and set some in 4+ foot holes of water along a well traveled banks or feeding areas.
Our British Otters have a lot in common with your American Bison as both were hunted to near extinction. Thankfully the U.K Otter numbers have recovered and are now protected by British law. Exempt from hunting.
We’re in America don’t care about your British problems
@@TripleBeamOutdoors best response ever.
The U.K Otter was almost hunted to extinction and nearly went the way of your ex-Passenger Pigeon. Thank god it's now a protected species and free from Hunters.
They are a nuisance here to many of them.
Thanks for trapping these. They are annihilating smallmouth bass populations here in Indiana rivers. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching!
Boohoo. Otters hunt fish to survive.....not for sport.
